The unicycle is a fascinating mode of transportation - and it's not just for circus performers!
Unicycles originated in the late 19th century, likely evolving from the penny-farthing bicycle when
riders realized they could balance on only the large front wheel. Early "monocycles" and patented designs
appeared around 1869-1881, becoming popular in circuses before evolving into modern variations like the giraffe,
mountain (MUni), and electric unicycles.

I became obsessed with unicycles in my 20s when I saw a student ride to the high school I worked at. It was such a novel mode of transportation that I just *had* to learn for myself. I spent hours researching techniques and equipment and eventually bought one of my very own.
